How
to choose the correct Solicitor for your legal case Part
2 Once you have worked with a particular solicitor and are
happy with the service they have provided, it's often wise to develop a long-term
relationship with them. If they understand the needs of you or your business,
they will be more effective. You can find a solicitor on the Law
Society website. How does No-Win-No-Fee work? - You
keep the entire compensation claim and all the costs awarded. The no win no fee
solicitor who accepts your claim recovers costs from the third party and insures
against losing. That way you keep everything without paying anything.
This
is not always the case. - A conditional fee arrangement may release you
from all liability to pay any money should the case lose, but it will require
you to pay an amount should the case win.
- The phrases ‘no win, no fee’
and ‘receive 100% of your compensation’ do not mean the same thing. Check with
the person who is taking the details of your claim that there will be nothing
to pay if you lose and nothing to pay if you win.
Before launching
a compensation claim ask yourself the following: - Was the accident
someone else´s fault?
- Did it happen within the last three years?
- Did
the injury cause you un-necessary suffering?
Do I really
need a solicitor? Solicitors are not the only people who can provide legal
advice: Legal help may be available from:- - other professionals,
for example, an accountant who can give advice on tax and company law
- advice
centres, such as the Citizens Advice Bureaux, housing advice centres, money advice
centres, law centres
- other organisations, such as trade unions and motoring
organisations

of the day: Samuel Butler: "A lawyer's dream of Heaven:
Every man reclaimed his own property at the resurrection, and each tried to recover
it from all his ancestors."
